Challenges Faced
Hurricane Florence was the first major storm of 2018, the storm first impacted North Carolina on September 12, 2018. The massive storm made landfall near Wrightsville Beach on Friday, Sept. 17 and dropped between 10-40 inches of rain in Central North Carolina. Harnett County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) lost both their primary and secondary internet services on the first day of Hurricane Florence.
This resulted in a lack of communications to respond to the natural disaster.

The Results
The Harnett EOC was in full operations with approximately thirty staff in the Emergency Operations Center twenty-four hours per day. The TRaCK Box was able to provide non-stop data services during that time, alternating between battery and hardline power.
With connectivity provided by the Cradlepoint router solution, EOC was able to log their incidents/events in their critical information management system, share updates with state and federal resources, coordinate rescues, evacuations, public safety crises, and all emergency response services.
